The Brooklyn Bridge is a combination of two things, cable-stayed and suspension bridge in New York City and is one of the oldest bridges. The Brooklyn Bridge, which was completed in 1883, connects the boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan by spanning the East River. It was the first steel-wire suspension bridge built which has a main span of 1,595.5 feet.

At first, it was referred to as the New York and Brooklyn Bridge and as the East River Bridge, but it was later named the Brooklyn Bridge. Brooklyn Bridge is a name which is coming from an earlier 25th January 1867, letter to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle’s editor, and formally so, in 1915, it was named by the city government.

The Brooklyn Bridge has become a symbol of New York City since its opening, and in 1964, it was named a National Historic Landmark, and in 1972, it was named a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.

If you are visiting New York City for the first time, make sure to take the Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo neighbourhood tour, rent a bike of simply just walk over the Bridge to Brooklyn.
