Drivers and conductors on public transportation often seem quite grumpy. I understand why: Passengers can be rude or even aggressive; their jobs can be boring, stressful, and thankless. Then there are the occasional bus drivers or subway conductors who go out of their way to help or give commuters a little laugh. It always makes my day, so why not do the same for them? They help us get on with our days after all.

In New York, subway conductors have to show they’re paying attention by pointing at a black and white board at every stop. Two friends got together and created funny signs for the conductors to point at, making them all laugh. Even the passengers got involved in the pointing.
